I use the term ‘Mud Kingdom’ to refer to all the things that make up my life. It is my domain, my people, our shared cultural values, and combined destiny. My use of the word ‘mud’ may seem self-deprecating, but my choice of the word comes from a term I read once describing the hearty and robust people of Afghanistan as a ‘people from the mud.’ They thrive or at least survive with little more than the mud they rose from. It’s a constant reminder that there is no excuse but for those that help you keep going and a reminder of the responsibility I have to myself and my community.
Here, people come first. Then ideas. Finally, method in that order. I hope to share this kingdom with you.
